1916 Proclamation and Flag Raising Ceremony

As the sun was shining we all gathered outside for the ceremony today. To begin proceedings Mrs. Gleeson's music group played 'The Dawning of the Day'. Ellen, Zara and Alex danced to The Kerry Polka performed by some of the teachers. Ria and Aimee danced to The Kesh Jig. All of the dancers were brilliant! The teachers also performed 'Boulavogue' and 'Roddy Mc Corley'. Fr. Brennan blessed the flag and Rosemary read an excerpt from The 1916 Proclamation. Thomas wrote his own '2016 Proclamation' and read it for everyone. All children sang the song 'Grace', the flag was then raised by the youngest and oldest pupil in the school. Everyone stood to attention while we sang the national anthem 'Amhrán na bhFiann' Well done to everyone involved!
